Hello from Burnet County

Postby Old300 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:14 pm

I've been mostly cooking on gas burners (Broil King Baron and a Southwest Discada) the last few years - mostly for time and convenience.

Lately though, I have come to the realization that I really miss cooking with wood. So, while surfing the web and getting reacquainted with the different grills and smokers available, I stumbled across this site.

After lurking for awhile and reading various posts I've come to another realization - I have a lot to learn.

So, looking forward to hanging out here and improving skills. Time to spruce up the BBQ Galore Offset that's been neglected the last few and then get busy!

Howdy and Welcome to the Forum :texas: I spent a few glorious years just North in Lampasas Co. and that's where I got corrected when I said "Burr-net". The locals there shouted to me "It's Burn'it Durn-it" :laughing7: :D

Is that a Tele I see :?:

A Tele? - Why yes it is. Not one of mine but I didn't have pix handy. I'll swap it out when I get a chance.

I don't know the Schaubs. They look to be an old Texas music family though.

Growing up in Ft. Worth, I didn't appreciate the rich music history Texas has. It took me leaving the state for several years to understand how deep the well really is.

I'm not aware of a connection. Might be a good excuse to go to Blanco for BBQ though.

Welcome! I grew up in Lampasas and ran with a few boys from Burnet during the day. Out here in Aggieland now, but those limeatone and granite outcrops will always be home! 8)
