First Time to Post and Completely New at BBQ

Postby Kojaks » Mon Feb 15, 2010 11:18 am

Well I have been looking at smokers to buy but decided to take a stab at building my own. I am starting out with a 5foot by 12foot Trailer and a 250 gallon old air tank(walls are 1/4 thick) for the fire box I found a old tank that is 30" X 30" X 16" with 3/8 thick walls. So far I have spent Zero dollars! If you have any suggests please tell me this is something I want to keep for awhile. Non smoker ideas I am going to add is a full sound system, Hook up for Tv, water proof box for wood, Propane burner for fish frying, beans, ECT. Pictures are coming soon!!!

Starting my Smoker Trailer Build(PICTURES)!!

Postby Kojaks » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:58 pm

Well I have been looking at smokers and reading a lot on here. I have decided to take a stab at building my own Smokertrailer. I have thought about having a propane starter in the fire box but if I start to do comps will I have to take completely off the trailer?

Thanks, myself and dad own a machine shop in the denton area. We have a CNC plasma table(and some other machines) to cut things out like that and we just purchased a waterjet machine but we are about 3 weeks away from having it up working. I heard that you cannot use propane starters in comps but I didnt know if that was trueor not.

well i can't speak intelligently about all sanctioning bodies, but KCBS say that you can not use gas to cook or hold heat. ergo, you can use it to light the fire.i would be inclined to bet that others are similar.
