Hi,
I am new to this forum, but i need help with my first smoker build. Yeah i could buy it, but i am more of a DIY guy and i am convinced, that meat tastes better, if You work hard for it
So looking to build something similar to this:
My questions are: How long should be the tube between the two barrels?
In the upper barrel is the water pan. Where should i put it - in the bottom of the barrel or raise it a bit. If it is ok to put it in the bottom, than maybe i'll weld some walls to the barrel and poor the water in there. Does the meat drip into the waterpan or should it have one more above the waterpan?
Thanks for the answers!

Interesting lookin' smoker. I'm sure some of the guys that are into building will be along soon with some answers.
In the mean time, stop over to the Wanted Posters section and introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself.

Re: Few questions about BBQ build
The risers in the picture look to be showing 12 " of 6" pipe exposed between the lower and the upper with most likely another 6 " on the inside. If I where going to incorporate a water pan into a build (Which I Never Would!!!)I would locate it into the bottom between the heat risers and I would use a piece of 8 "square tubing as my diffuser box with 3/4 " holes spaced every 3-4 " along the sides running the entire length of the pit.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

I would shorten the distance between cooking area and firebox also....Looks like that one is cooking the grass almost as much as cooking meat.
