Smoking a Turkey

Postby Doop » Mon Nov 12, 2007 1:14 pm

Hey guys,
I'm new and did some searching and didn't find much so I thought I'd put a post up and see what I get out of it.

Last summer I smoked a turkey....turned out pretty good. I basted it with butter and then loaded it with garlic salt. Smoked it over apple wood and it wasn't bad.

I was wondering if you would like share your recipe....I'd like to try something different for Thanksgiving.

Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Doop!

Sorry, no specific recipe here. The last few years we've been frying the bird, usually without much seasoning so the oil stays fresh.

Welcome a board Doop. I moved your topic  to intro's. There is a thread on smoking turkeys somewhere in the smoke house. I'll try and look up the link.

Is you're bird pumped (enhanced)? If not, you may want to consider brining.

What y'all cooking on, that would help a bunch as to providing the appropriate advice.
