Please keep him in your prayers

Postby DaHorns » Sat Jul 26, 2008 1:51 am

I got a call from my little brother this morning while I was down in San Antonio working, I could tell there was something wrong when I was talking to him, then all the sudden he told me what was going on and I was horrified. He said that he had been having some serious abdominal pain since monday and went to the doctor on Thursday to find out what was wrong. After the doctor was unable to figure out what was going on they decided to run some x-rays to see if it was kidney stones, the x-rays showed nothing and the nurse and doctor became seriously concerned and ordered a CT scan. When the CT scan came back he had just walked out of the doctors office when they called and asked him to return immediatly. He walked back in and said the doctor looked like she had just seen a ghost. She said that the was no easy way to say this so she just told him straight up that the was a toomer about the size of a baseball that was attached to his colon and wrapped around a main artery just below his ribcage. This sent everything into a tailspin and my brother was an emotional wreck. We have lost our mom and grandfather to cancer so we know what it does to a body. I hurried home and got to his condo downtown to find my cousins already there with him. I took him to another appointment at Austin Regional Clinic in Round Rock this is where the doctor told him that he would have to go in Friday night for emergency surgery to have this removed. The doctor explained the proceedure and everything that it would entail. We left the ARC and headed straight for Seton NW, where they performed the surgery, they removed the toomer and had to resect his colon, we will have to wait until Tuesday to find out the pathology report on the toomer, but the doctor said it didnt look good, it was very aggressive and had made its way to him lymph nodes so we will have to wait and see if they were able to remove it all or if it had spread to anything else. My brother is only 31 years old, way too young for this to be happening. He is sleeping right now but is more worried about everyone else than himself, of course, thats the kind of guy he is. I can also say that the doctor we have been dealing with and everyone involved in todays events have been spectacular, I thank God for that.

Please keep him in your prayers, he is my best freind and my brother!!

Thanks for listening, I needed to get that out!
