Who uses a weed burner?

Postby tex_toby » Fri Nov 20, 2009 4:45 pm

I'm thinking I want to put a weed burner on my Christmas list, but I don't know much about them. I know some of you use them to light your charcoal. Any suggestions on an economical one? I'll be using it for charcoal ignition and also weed burning around the house...outdoor weeds that is. ;)

Harbor Freight is about the least expensive. I got one of their $20 ones and it's going on 3 yrs. old with no problems.

I also use the cheap model from Harbor Freight. I bought my first one there about 8 or 9 years ago and it would still be going strong if my lab hadn't eaten a good portion of the hose. Bought the second one a little over a year ago and no complaints. Personally, I'd skip the one with the ignitor and stay with the cheaper model... one less thing to go wrong ya know. I use mine to start my coals and also to clean the cooking grates and preheat the pit. Used it to light a cigar once... don't recommend that.

Whatever you do, DON'T use it on weeds next to your wooden fence.

Glad you asked. Been meaning to pick one up - stopped by Harbor Freight today and picked one up.

I have the cheap H.F. model, had it longer than Big Ed's. I have had several friends buy them after seeing mine in use.
Way better than using stinking fluid.
