Building my first BBQ trailer - Completed

Postby brentski » Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:31 am

Here goes, any tips you see - let me know the good or the bad..
The beginning..found a trailer for a good price 5' x 10'
Image

Stripped and ready to start

Image

Got my propane tank cut and hauled home
Image

Trying to figure the best load and building the braces for the tank to the trailer, new fenders installed
Image

Welded on the vertical box, note the storage box below that is the same depth as the vertical.
Image

View from the front
Image

Door Open, box is 30 x 30 x 36
Image

Room for more it seems,
Image

Lining up the stacks and putting in the star
Image

Building front partition and bracing
Image

Starting to cut out the doors and it does make difference to let the metal cool before cutting the doors all the way out we learned
Image

Lid to the charcoal/smoker open
Image

What a beast to get this on through the front bracing, 1/4" plate and it is solid
Image

We are going to wait and put on the tires to work on the proper trailer balance once all the guts are added then connect it to the main firebox with a 6" pipe to allow for smoking and charcoal at the same time. We will also put in propane burners to cook or start the charcoal as needed.
Image

Perfect fit with the lid open resting on the main chamber
Image

That is it so far, hopefully in the next couple of months we will be further along.

looks like you have access to some great tools and equipment there.

What are you going to do with the ends off the tank?
