I like a creamy slaw but have done it with vinegar and blue cabbage and onions (Scandislaw) . You just don't want to runny a dressing or drain it well. It helps to let it age in the fridge overnight to meld the flavors better.

OK, I may be in the minority here but IF I buy slaw, Chick-Fil-A has good slaw.

Chick-Fil-A is ok if you add diced apples to it! 8) 8)

Hj’s Cole Slaw

1 head cabbage shred
1 onion sliced thin
1 -2 carrots sliced very thin or shredded

1 c. Kraft Real Mayonnaise
1 tsp. yellow mustard
2 capfuls apple vinegar
1 to 2 tsp. sugar more if needed
1 ½ tsp. garlic granular
Salt – Pepper to taste
Accent to taste
Whole milk (just enough to make creamy
Mix all sauce ingredients together well in a bowl - taste –adjust flavor.

Pour over cabbage mixture.. Let sit in refrigerator cover for flavors to meld ñ chill
Stir before serving

Notes~ can add some fresh crisp celery sliced thin or chopped walnuts or slices of apple.
If u find u need more mixture just add little more mayo n adjust ur seasonings

I don't measure I just throw it in a bowl-as the flavors meld n chill they taste sweet-tart taste is addictive.
A mistake is sometimes a great creation

Of course the slaw is gonna be a side dish? You not going to pile it on the sandwich, right. CF

I pile it high on a sammie. Only way the Mrs will eat. Course you got to have some Lexington Style Vinegar sauce to round it all out. :D

It ain't Texas style to be puttin' slaw on your sandwich but if'n you must.
Modify Hj's recipe slightly.
Drop the garlic.
add 1 cup of pico d gallo
replace the vinegar with lime juice.

Here is the one I use......has always worked well for me....and goes GREAT with pulled pork..

1 cup Half and Half
1/2 cup Sugar
6 Tbs Cider Vinegar
2 Tbs Mayonnaise ( I prefer the Lite Miracle Whip )
2 Garlic Cloves Minced
1 tsp Salt (to taste)
1 Cabbage Medium grated ( or 1 bag of pre-shredded slaw mix )
1-2 Carrots - shredded

It is always good to make maybe a day ahead. This allows the cabbage to soften a little and the flavors to blend more fully. Then again when your hungry....who cares
