Peas

Postby Rambo » Sun Jun 26, 2022 12:23 pm

My 92 year old FIL harvested 6 rows of Purple Hull Peas this year. They blanch them and then put in the freezer. They eat peas Year round and it is a staple in their diet. I’m just wondering how many of you eat peas on a regular basis anymore?

Field Peas and Green Beans - - - - along with several cans of Pintos - -

I haven't had a good mess of Purple Hulls in a long time but I'd sure like some

Canned/frozen or fresh? Green or other? We seem to have a couple green bean plants poking up.

Fresh. I think most stores carry frozen peas, at least down here . Those are pretty good. It’s just very important to my In-laws and I think modern fits have gotten away from peas and many garden vegetables the older generation grew up with

We, well my wife grows and freezes peas and butter beans and French beans. I propagate them, she does the rest. It's the middle of winter here. 9 degrees c here.
I have peas starting now.

I Love Butter Beans but my back can’t stand the picking of them anymore; too low

Not as often as I’d like. The local farmers market posted this weekend they had purple hulls. Really wanted to get down there and grab a couple bags but like a lot of things lately, just not enough hours in the day

Last year we grew them at our front door. I'm not allowed to pick them.

I could eat peas or beans with every meal. My favorite pea is purple hull. I do love me some baby lima beans as well.
