It’s Hot and Dry

Postby Rambo » Thu Jul 07, 2022 2:38 pm

We’ve already had several days over 100 in East Texas and they have 100 plus forecast for the next 7 days. Pasture is starting to turn brown. I’m sure many of you are having similar experience. I don’t want any Hurricanes but would sure like one of those Tropical depressions to have enough punch left to give everyone some rain. If it keeps this up, we’re going to see huge price jumps at the grocery store

This is all cyclical. We’re due a couple rough summers. Is it fun no, will it happen again yes. Food prices are facing several headwinds beyond drought conditions. As long as the locus stay in check and it ain’t raining frogs we’ll be alright.

I have had decent rain here in Cypress TX. But it is really dry up in the Hill Country. They burnt down a few houses up there this last weekend.

Dang, there’s been a couple of 100-150 acre forest fires up here this week.

Last few days haven't been as hot as they have been so I'm taking that as a sign and am enjoying being able to go to the car without sweating.

Farmers and Ranchers are at a point of selling. That picture is indicative of most stock tanks. Once they sell off their breeding age females for slaughter it will take years to get the reproductive herds back to current levels. Alas, the price of beef is going to skyrocket.

We got some yesterday but not near as much as some folks around Houston did.

Hallelujah, we wound up with 3.5” last night. It put a lot of water back in these stock tanks. One of mine was dang near dry and it’s half full this morning

We’re had a couple showers the last few days but nothing near 3.5”. Forecast looks good starting Sunday. Just need to get a few spots knocked down before it hits.
