Beerless Beer Can Chicken

Hey Gang, my Son wants to do a Beer Can Chicken but doesn't want to use Beer.
What Substitutes Do "YALL" recommend

I will be perfectly honest I use a 2/3 can full of regular old tap water. I have done a whole lot of "Beer can chickens" and have found the liquid just does not impart any flavor. I usually season the cavity stick the bird on the can then add a couple of lime or lemon pieces in the craw then stop it up with an onion wedge and let her cook!

I think I understand - I feel the same way about mushrooms, which seems to be a minority opinion.

Count me in on those also The only way that I'll eat them is by taking a large portabello and grilling it for a faux Burger

I'll second K.A.M.'s suggestion. Similar to what I do sometimes I use oranges but lemons are good.

In fact some of my best build ideas came while sipping on a robust cup of mushroom tea.
