Texas lost a BBQ Legend

Postby bsooner75 » Fri Dec 17, 2021 10:59 am

He was a little rough around the edges but man could he cook. I listed his food as my absolute favorite more than once when people asked me where they should stop on a road trip. Prayers up for the Mueller family.

John Mueller passed away at the age of 52. Rest In Peace.

John’s family roots are deep in Texas BBQ. From Louie Mueller BBQ in Taylor (his grandfather started and brother runs currently) to LA BBQ I Austin (his sisters place) to his time spent at Franklin, multiple joints of his own and his most recent stop at Hutchins in Frisco.

Absolutely; I went by Taylor 3 times in my life. The family knew how to do it. RIP

For those who can find it, a young German journalism student’s story of calling John to arrange an on-site interview smack during rush hour at the pit is an all-time classic. You have to read deep into the article but worth it.

BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE
Hank: "Do you know how to jumpstart a man's heart with a downed power line?"
Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."

Some of the best stories were those that were not aware - yes the beers were free, but you were better off waiting till he offered or handed you one
