Re: Annual Trip
Pikes speak today by train. Pretty neat deal, and really cold up top.
Of course then I had to go to the BroadMoor for a couple drinks. Incredible place

Fun times fo sho - - - I"ve gone to the top of Pikes Peak VIA every means including driving up in our own Vehicle and the Cog Railway is the best way IMHO. You get to see and enjoy the Beautiful Scenery much better onn the Train. Doesn't The Broadmoor have an Ice Skating Rink also??? Nice Pics, G-Rail I noticed that "Aspirin Tree" shining in the Sun also !

Parts the Aspens are looking good. Took a visit down to the hot springs today. We are off to Albuquerque tomorrow for a short visit with some friends, then we will be back in Texas on Tuesday. Looking to get home Friday or Saturday.

Re: Annual Trip
You'll still be in some beautiful country, especially Chama New Mexico - - - I went there once with my Grandparents a loooooooong time ago and it seems that it was a Railroad Town/Cowboy Town as I vaguely remember. My Grandpaw loved old trains and trout fishing and we sure did a lot of the latter (great trout streams) It also seems like it was kinda in a Valley?? but as I said "long ago and far away" for me

Re: Annual Trip
Made it back to Texas. Waylon has a brother that has a liquor store in Littlefield TX. with a good bit a memorabilia in it. So made a stop there. A couple of photos from some friends place this mornin on there back patio looking at the Sandia range in Albuquerque. And I thought I would drop in and check on Buddy Holly as well. Spend the night in Lubbock, on to Abilene tomorrow.

Parts, went through Chama last year, still a RR town but it’s boots are a bit worn down in the heels if you get my drift. Chama River Valley still beautiful.
And Buddy Holly, to me, is still the actual KING. Elvis could move with rock n roll, but Buddy actually moved rock n roll… and the world was never.the.same. And I’m sure Waylon thought about that fateful day for the rest of his life. Heads you live, tails you don’t. The difference was as thin as a breath of air.

BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE
Hank: "Do you know how to jumpstart a man's heart with a downed power line?"
Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."

Re: Annual Trip
Before you head out, you ought to grab some fried cheese from Spankys. Its a burger joint right by the football stadium. Life changing!
And Emm, happiness was Lubbock, Texas in my rear view mirror, but now happiness is Lubbock, Texas growing nearer and dearer.

Boots we went and toured the Buddy Holly Center. Excellent display and chronology of his life. They did not allow any photos inside the center.

If you’re in Abilene you HAVE TO go to Perrini’s Ranch and eat Steak, Hominy, and Jalapeño Cheesecake. Best food you’ll ever eat. It’s in Buffalo Gap, just a few miles out of Abilene. PLEASE trust me

Not sure we can pull off the steak house. Only in town over night and we are meeting up with friends. Might be able to pull of the cafe for breakfast or early lunch tomorrow. We we were going to do 2 nights here but I had a good friend from the rodeo pass away and need to get home for the visitation and funeral.

They didn't at Graceland inside the House either. I think it has something to do with possible deteriation (sp?) of the historic items
