I am going to share something from my Life that I've been keeping to myself for many years, if I may. My Uncle was a Veteran, in a very different way as he was a part of the Horrific "BATAAN DEATH MARCH of World War Two" ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_Death_March He had recently graduated from Texas A&M when he was drafted and they were captured the moment they landed over there.
Here is a Poem that he wrote much later in his Life. I can't imagine the Horrible Mental and Physical Pain that He endured and I'm sure that there were many times he wished that he hadn't survived Please don't hate him, OK?
What I Didn't Do in World War Two
(Warren Robertson)
One day my Grandson asked me
What I did in World War Two.
I told him, son, it's not what I did'
It's what I didn't do.
I didn't go to the USO's and
Dance with the pretty girls.
I didn't meet a WAC or WAVE,
Or a blonde with pretty curls.
I didn't get a promotion
Though I served 3 years and more
I didn't get a raise in pay
Or R&R on a far away shore.
I didn't get Army rations,
Though some folks thought them bad.
I didn't get milk, or meat, or eggs,
Or many things other soldiers had.
I didn't see my Mother or Dad
For forty eight months of my life,
And most of the ladies that I had known
Had become somone eles's wife.
I didn't go to a picture show,
Or have a beer at a local bar.
I didn't fly in an airplane,
Or ride in a brand new car.
There were many days that I never smiled,
And never, never laughed out loud.
There were many days I could have cried,
For I never once felt proud.
I never got a medal for some brave act
Like a charge up some foreign hill.
I never felt like a soldier should.
And I guess I never will.
I never got one kind word
From folks in that land so far.
I never got much that was any good
You see-I was a PRISONER OF WAR

Indeed....How could anyone possibly hate such a man who survived the Bataan Death March? And thank you, Parts, for sharing this. I salute your Uncle.
