Re: 2023 Garden Thread
I put in radishes, onion, carrots on Monday, the first radish sprouted today after the good rain.
Today, I planted 5 different tomato plants, sweet peppers, bell peppers, jalapeños.
Several herbs went in.
Decided I need to make another box for cucumbers, squash, and cantaloupe by mid April.
No frost forecast thru the first week of April, knock on wood.

You can’t grow cucumbers in a box unless you’re going to let them climb on something

Yes, gonna try ‘bush’ type cukes and cantaloupe to limit the support needed.

Re: 2023 Garden Thread
when I was gardening, I tried to use as many "pole type" veggies as I could - - - it allowed for more plants and easier maintenance for me - - - I even used Hay around my early Taters for Mulch and it allowed the new taters to grow in the Hay and you didn't have to dig them that's been a loooooooong time passing

Re: 2023 Garden Thread
watching for the pictures on the bush cantaloupes...
Most know there is nothing like Pecos cantaloupes (the only better was Presideo), we cleaned one and planted the seeds one year...
the vines were crazy big, so big I kept them in check with a riding lawn more this was prior to the rabbit infestation in our neighborhood..
we got several melons in spite of the conditions and the irrigation system the honey taste was just not there.

The bush cantaloupes might be a dream. I can’t find the seeds anywhere. Lowes, HD, WM.

I just don’t understand how a “ bush “ is going to support a 3Lb melon
