Memories from 20 plus years ago !
My Grandaughter gave birth to my first great grandson a year ago and she just sent me this picture.
This is Ryder who just turned 1 and the Rocking Donkey he's sitting on is one that I built for Harlee over 20 years ago.
I ordered the plans and they called it "Beezer the Burro" - - it was definitely a Labor of Love and had many pieces of different thicknesses of lumber to obtain the width. I had somehow ended up with it but several years ago I gave it and many other items to Harlee. I've said all of that to say this "when I saw this pic, my eyes got wet" must have been the clear finish on old Beezer causing it

Awesome, OUP!
My wife and I are just entering the "memory department".
My grand son is now 15 years old, my grand daughter is turning 8, and I don't know where that time went. I just know that the time we spent and will spend with them is precious.
Life is good, folks. Enjoy the ride.

Sadly, they’re pretty well gone now. We’ve had several grow up that don’t remember what Gran and I did keeping them. They’re like a young Colt; you try to put a good Foundation under them and hope for the best.

You do what you can do, teach what you can teach, and hang on to the hope that they took some of it to heart. It's what we do as grand parents.
I don't think we were much different as kids.

Re: Memories from 20 plus years ago !
Back in the early Seventies I loaded up the Family (wife and 2 sons) and split for Colorado. 3 days later I had a Drafting Job up in the Rocky Mtns and you could see the Continental Divide from Main Street.
Needless to say, I was not the most popular person with my Parents, Grandparents or my Wife's Parents. However, when I loaded them up 5 years later and came back to East Texas, I gained my "fame" back.

Here's a PIc of Harlee, Ryder and I at his 1st BD Party.
The Sign on my Shirt was from a Kitchen Towel that Harlee as a way of telling me that she was Pregnant and due in March. It will soon go into a Frame and onto my Wall of Fame.

Nice rockin horse!!
several words of wisdom take from you all, our one and only granddaughter will turn 5 in July...
My belief is that we are here to pass the benefits of our wisdom to our kids and their kids, if we can get them to absorb the information, we are trying to pass on to them

What a heartwarming story! Seeing your great-grandson, Ryder, sitting on the Rocking Donkey you built for Harlee over 20 years ago, brought back cherished memories. It's a testament to the love and effort poured into creating "Beezer the Burro." The emotional moment might indeed have been the clear finish on the old Beezer causing your eyes to well up with joy and nostalgia. It's beautiful to see your creation bringing joy to the next generation, creating lasting connections through your labor of love.
