It’s Willie’s 90th birthday
I guess the words to his song are true ; “there’s more old Drunks than there is Old Doctors so I guess I’ll have another round” I’ve been fortunate to have seen him perform 4 times; once with a surprise visit from Merle and they jammed together for 2 hours.

"I"ve been to His 4th of July Picnic, once, and I've always been a Fan, however, I liked him as a Songwriter more than an Entertainer - - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WILLIE !"

I used to help a guy cook the bbq for the bands for his 4th of July when it was still at Luechenbach. We cooked behind the old dance hall. I have seen him a lot. We were at his 80th at the Ampitheater at Bee Cave TX. 2 dollar ice cold Lone Star tall boys.

The one "we" went to was in 1975 at Liberty Hill, Texas on the Overton Ranch - - - only parking was several miles from the Venue but there was some Cool Hippies with a flatbed truck making the rounds and picking up those that needed a ride. I needed one badly since I had a cooler full of beer. When we got into the Venue area, a bunch of Bikers had captured one of the only Shade Trees and they asked us to join them in the shade. Of course They all got a cold beer. I enjoyed the ?experience? but had no desire to do it again.

That deal I did was in the early 90’s. Not sure why he isn’t in Texas for this years party, but oh well.

Momma always said to smoke your veggies. Ha Ha. I am a Doc my self and I remember in Chiropractic school when they told us the average lifespan of a MD was 57 and that was 22 yrs ago. Crazy how that works. Maybe I should start taking Momma's advice! Just kidding. HBD Willie. BTW my B-Day is today. Woo hoo. Have a great day everyone!
