If you're dreaming of a white Christmas

Postby Norway joe2 » Mon Jan 01, 2024 11:16 am

Happy new year!

It's been a while since I posted. It's due to my old user id was blocked and it wasn't possible to unlock it. Don't know why so I had to create a new.

Seems that we are in for a good old winter. Usually not this much snow at this time of year. Usually we get the most in February. Just spent an hour with the snowblower to clear the yard. Still 10 inches to come within tomorrow afternoon. Then it changes to -10 fahrenheit for some days.

Hade to check on the boat too. It's about 40 miles each way. Highway was continously cleared but still 2-3inches of snow on the road, but it was OK. Lot of snow to remove from the boat cover.

Joe

Thanks. .

We love the snow and winter. Forecast now says we may dip below -22 fahrenheit on Friday and Saturday. That's a bit colder than we're used to here. Not a big deal, though.

If you don't acclimate yourself to long hard winters, you will suffer needlessly and get to where you hate them - -- - when we moved to the ROcky Mtns in Colorado just below 10,000 feet elev. that's one of the first things my employer told me and he was right. I witnessed some "flatlanders" that stayed inside whenever possible and they hated the winters and didn't last long up there. :whiteflag:

The winter is actually OK. The cold temperatures are normally nit an issue but all the clothes are a hassle. I like that we have 4 seasons but wish the winter was shorter and the summer longer.

Since we live close to the ocean the air is humid which make it feel much, much colder than when the aur is dry. About the same as it feels warmer in the summer with humid air.

I'm glad I'm not at the cabin today. -39.2 fahrenheit at the moment.

Yes Indeed, Mr. Joe - - - that humidity can really change the temperatures on a potential Nice Day for us that live off of the Gulf Coast - - - it can be a bright sunny day here in Texas and still have 100% humidity :laughing7: :dont:  :whiteflag:
