Took a long time for this native Texan to get here!

Postby apolter » Tue Dec 10, 2019 12:32 am

Hey y'all! I'm here in Carrollton, TX, and have always enjoyed BBQ but never considered myself very good at it. I've always struggled with crappy grills that never lived up to their expectations. My last one had a smoker box and I did make a few very decent briskets. However, keeping the temperature right was simply murder and so tedious over the 8 hours I smoked the brisket. Well, tonight I finally broke down and bought a Traeger pellet grill that I have been eyeballing for over a year. I'm very excited to see what this can do and how much more I'll use this now that I finally have a high quality grill that is insulated, well-sealed, and allows remote temperature monitoring. I'm also going to be creating a post under the Pellet Grills topic because of the deal I was able to take advantage of tonight at Nebraska Furniture Mart where they are offering a $160 Reward Card for the purchase of certain Traeger grills, including the new one I bought, the Timberline 1300. With this incentive, you're basically getting the 1300 for just over the price of the 850. I wanted to share this information with this forum as I don't believe Traeger discounts there grills very often The offer expires on 12/15. See you in the forum!

Welcome. We lived in Carrollton for for over 20 years before moving to Little Elm. Still drive to Carrollton for work every day though.

Glad to have you.

Thanks for the welcome. Traeger isn't setup yet as I had to pick up some conduit and such to extend an electrical outlet to my grill location. Haven't had to plug in anything related to a grill since I used to use a rotisserie. Will provide some additional reviews once I'm up and going. And to the user that is quoting Blazing Saddles in their profile.... :salut:
