Howdy from California

Hey all, I’m Bo and I’m currently living I California.
Growing up I spent many summers in Austin, San Angelo, and San Antonio - good times!

Always been a bbq guy, used to swear by charcoal but now am up for anything - been playing with a Pit Boss 340 for the last year and am having tons of fun with it.

First came across this board a while ago when I found a thread about advice for new pit boss owners. That thread is bookmarked and I reference it from time to time, figured I’d start chiming in and asking questions!

I'm papa Jim, like the subject line says returning. I live in Montgomery Tx., retired from Kinder Morgan pipeline about 7 years ago, and a Viet Nam Era Army Veteran. Started cooking competition BBQ back in the 1980's. Presently, only do about 3 comps. a year because of old age, entry fees, meat prices, & covid. I mostly cook in my backyard to keep in practice. I still have a collection of pits; my recent purchase was a Lone Star Grills 20"x 42" pellet popper. I never thought I would do that because pellet poppers were not popular with the old timer comp. cookers. But presently I got tired of looking at the backs of guys' heads walking pass me to collect their checks. For that reason, I'm a proud owner of one. Well, I've rambled long enough. Looking forward to chatting with you guys.
