Greetings from Virginia

Postby Goedpaul » Sun Jul 12, 2020 1:07 pm

Hello,
Ive been grilling on Weber kettle for years, my daughter gave me a Weber Smokey Mountain cooker for Fathers Day, my first smoke was a brisket yesterday and the results were not what i hoped for. I know there’s a ton of trial and error to learn on my own but a forum of Texas BBQers should be a deep pool of experience and knowledge. I look forward to picking up tips and tricks, short cuts and must dos from you all.

Thanks,
Paul

Welcome: unless you’ve got money to burn you might try some inexpensive cuts until you get a good handle on how your new smoker works.

Welcome aboard and I’ll second what Rambo said. Pork butts and chuck roasts when on sale are easier on the pocket book than a brisket. Also, pork butt Is very forgiving.
