Do you bother with snuffing out the fire when you are done grilling? If so, how do you do it?
After seeing the home that burned the other day from a smoldering grill, that has raised my awarness of getting the fire out.
I have normally just been closing the lid on the grill, but now I am thinking this may not be enough...

I never do but that doesn’t make it correct. I’ll bet that they had the grill sitting on a wood structure

I have always let my smokers and grills burn out and then empty the next day.

same here but I do put it on the concrete floor next to my car port - - - nothing inflammable there

Exactly; I worry when I see folks grilling on a wooden deck

Re: Do you bother with snuffing out the fire
I always just shut the lids and close the vents as well. I do not move the grill back (if it moves) to its resting location until the next morning though.
Either way, they always sit on concrete.

Re: Do you bother with snuffing out the fire
depends on the cooker...
the webber kettle I close the vents and the fire is suffocated by the lack of air, the FEC100 has a very small fire pot so once turned off it no longer feeds fuel, the gasser well I suppose you could say I do snuff the fire out one way or another. All my cookers are on the back patio which is concrete.

Yep, I close all the vents and smother the fire.

I cook on a concrete pad. I close the vents on the BGE when I'm done, and close the stack and ball valve on my Assassin when finished.
