Sometimes it's not meant to be

Postby Norway Joe » Sat Sep 19, 2020 12:53 pm

Started the day at the boat. Had to cover it for the winter. Assembled the rack to hang the cover on but I couldn't make it fit on the boat as I wanted. After a lot of sweat, irritation and bad words I found a professional at the harbor that did this for a living. Ended up hiring him for the job.

Then we looked forward to a nice Saturday dinner. Bought a tenderloin from Uruguay that we smoked on the smokefire. Pulled at 120 and then searing on the gasser. While this was cooking we made our usual broccoli side dish. When everything was cut and ready to go in the oven we discovered it was full of green worms. Since we already had our proteins in the meat we throwed it a way. We wanted some veggies so figured I could make som boiled/grilled onions. Pealed the onions and put them in an ovenproof bowl. For some reason I picked the ceramic one instead of the metal one I usually use on the grill. Poured over broth, a few garlic cloves and tarragon and on the grill with it. When I checked it after a while the bowl had cracked, liquid was gone and onions burned. Another trip to the bin.

The meat, twice baked potatoes and the homemade bearnaise sauce was nice, though. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug. You’re above ground, that’s great

You're absolutely right, I'm living and very seldom am I the bug. Just annoying when things don't go as planned.

Still a cup of coffee and what we call a schoolbun is a nice dessert.Image

If you had to pick one part of that meal to be bad that was the correct one. You absolutely crushed the important parts!

I've had days like that, except without the steak.

That looks good. And the bun.

Adapt and overcome. It’s a redneck way of life. One I might add you’re qualified to execute. :chef:
