Birthday dinner for oldest son

Postby Norway Joe » Tue Nov 09, 2021 3:42 pm

Oldest son is 20 years old today so he got to wish the dinner.

After his wish I grilled a whole tenderloin. Served with potato gratin, broccoli and homemade bearnaise sauce.

Grilled the sirloin on all sides on direct heat. Then indirect heat until internal was 131. Pulled and wrapped in foil for 15-20 minutes. Internal temperature rose to 140, which is perfect for our taste.

Wife made a Pavlova topped with blueberries for Dessert.

A very tasty meal.

Another thing; I've seen posts latelt about prices going up. We pay 49 usd for 2.2 lbs. How is that compared to prices over the pond?ImageImageImageImageImage

$49 for 2.2# is roughly 3.7 times what I’ve seen around here.

I don't know where gtr is finding his beef tenderloin but your price is in the ballpark (and good) for what's available near me. I can't buy round steak for gtr's prices. :dont:

Our supermarkets don’t even sell round steak anymore. If we want Chicken Fried Steak we have to go to Massingill’s Market and have them cut them

Thanks. I'll brought the congratulations to him and he said thanks a lot.

Very few supermarkets around here sells round steak either. I bought this at the butcher. A little bit cheaper and much better than what we get at the supermarket. I wrote 2.2 lbs because that's equivalent to 1.0 kilogram, as we use.

Steak, bearnaise and potato gratin is one of my favorite meal. Not so often we cook a whole tenderloin, though.
