Friday dinner

Postby TX1911 » Fri Oct 07, 2022 6:52 pm

Single dad tonight. Thought I would spoil the kiddos with a Honey Hog Waller pork loin glazed with rasberry chipotle and paired with roasted veggies and stuffing. So far, it's a quiet table!

:D We have an 11 year old, 9.5 year old and a 4.5 year old. I just told them that I can't make what they all want. So they can either eat what I made, or they can take their bath and head on to bed. It works surprisingly well.

If it's something they tried before and didn't like, or haven't tried but don't think they will like, we make them take a "no thank you" bite. They don't get to say "no thank you" until they have had a legitimate bite.

It seems to work most days. But Thursday my son intentionally gagged himself on couscous thay he normally likes, so.....

I'll have to try that !

I'm trying not to go down the route my dad took with me and my 8 siblings back in the day.

Mom cooked and his rule was..
Eat what your mother made for you and if you don't, it will be tomorrow's breakfast. If you don't eat it then, it will be your lunch, dinner etc etc...

Over time, I found out what green beans and liver tasted like for breakfast...

That’s’ pretty.

I think there is still a lot of value in the way our parents did it.
