I like the Plate, Mate, but like some others here, I have only eaten Tuna from a Can. However, I would surely give this a shot. :chef:  :salut: :texas:

All good, brother. I have my fair share of things I'm not interested in eating that most of you would say I'm crazy. :P

GRailsback wrote:I will look into that. I had my grates custom cut, will I need to do that for the grate also? Or just get a wide one and set it on top and go with it?

I only use 1 panel, so it fits fine on mine without custom cutting. You can see it in one of the photos above.

spacetrucker wrote:old habits are hard to break; I would have never thought I would eat what most consider undercooked fish, I did the rare tuna several times until like Papa Tom said the price got to high, the price of eggs are going up so investigating peanut butter and crackers.... :laughing7: :laughing7:

I hear ya. Prices are getting pretty dang stupid out there

Ya know, Van Alstyne isn't that big. No reason we couldn't hook up one night with some good grub ;)

Well I've been known to eat canned tuna from time to time as well, but these steaks are a whole different food group. They are nothing alike except the name. :D

I wanted to comment but am learning the older I get the more I remember what my mama used to say "little boys are to be seen and not heard" so my comments need to be less frequent otherwise I show the members of this forum my aged forgetfulness.... :laughing7: :laughing7:

Toby is Mr. Fish and hit a dinger.

Like Rambo and OUP, I too was once a no tuna man; too many of those darn tuna surprise sandwiches in the school lunch as a kid. Even as an adult, I was never a finned fish guy anyway cause nobody ever cooked it right.

But now I’m a big convert to tuna steaks on the grill or blackened in the skillet, and converted the wife finally too, to the point she now bugs me for it. But admittedly pricey these days.

BUT, there is a compromise that works, COD. Know that sounds weird, but it’s a good deep water white fish and pretty $ reasonable, I can even buy filets frozen and bagged at any of the box stores. Does GREAT on the grill, I call it the poor man’s sea bass. Drench with a little olive oil, lemon pepper, a squeeze of lemon juice, rest in the fridge an hour or two, then just sear it on a sheet of aluminum foil or a water soaked cedar shingle. If you like catfish, crappie, or sand bass, you’ll like this as least as much if not more, and while you can batter and deep fry it, you don’t have too.
