Open flame hot dogs

Postby Norway Joe » Sat Sep 30, 2023 11:59 am

Went to the cabin yesterday haven't been here since March. Having a week of holiday.

The weather was fine, so we lit up the fire pan today. Grilled a few hot dogs over the fire. A selection of bratwurst, cheese dogs with or without bacon. Also heated up a little kraut. I bought a jar of polish kraut that is great.

As usual served in lompe and only mustard. Never ketchup.
Tasted great in the fresh air.

You had me at bratwurst and well kraut. Not any better combo. Maybe beer and sunshine but that’s it.

Joe, I have to second what OUP said, (also known as "the ripper king") Those dogs look great and the scenery is a plus also, I like your prefer mustard always on a hot dog. :salut:

What they all said! What's the fuel in that pit? Gotta try this too.

Thanks.

The fuel is logs of wood. Usually, we use Birch as we did now. That pit is very versatile. Often used for just a bonfire after dark. It also comes with a griddle plate for cooking eggs, veggies, etc. It also has a chain hanging from the top used for a cast iron pot for stews, soups, and such.
