Move in Day

Today was early move in for large items down at Houston today. I am offshore, so a buddy of mine that I trust took care of moving the pit in for me. She is not new anymore, but it still has plenty more good parties in her. He gave it a bath this morning and sent this to me. I am coming in tomorrow and will get the RV ready for move in on Tuesday. And the beer drinking will commence for the following week.

She's ready for some coals.

Thanks Sooner, I have not missed a year in over 30 down there attending this thing. And for many years I used to cook it for my dear friend that originally got me into BBQ. In fact that pit of mine is somewhat of a tribute to him. He was an awesome loyal dear friend. And I will miss him dearly this weekend. I will move the RV in down there in the next day or so and then spend the rest of the week down there.

Pretty neat story. How many people attend the rodeo? How many food outfits are there?

CP, they will run close to 250 thousand people alone through the BBQ. It opens at 5 on Thursday, noon on Friday, and 9 on Saturday. It closes at 11 each night. As far as the rodeo itself, those numbers are in the millions. It runs for 20 days. With live music every night. The weather is supposed to be dry this year, but a little cool. There will be close to a 100 thousand people there Friday and Saturday. There will north of 250 BBQ teams there.

Greg, go forth and kick some butt, and best to you and the Missus.

Rambo, thought you might like the T-shirt I brought back from the Bakken several years ago.
Place has Shiner Bock on draft plus Shiner Bock promotional giveaway glasses. Ask the bartender why?

“All you Texas a oil people have taken over this part of the country. We were selling so much Shiner Bock it just was cheaper to order it by the keg instead of by the case.“
