Who’s smoking a turkey on Thursday?

Postby EdG » Sun Nov 21, 2021 7:08 pm

Gonna experiment this year. Never brined, injected or spatchcocked a turkey before, and I think it’s time.

The drippings will make a smoky gravy, hopefully not too smoky.

Gonna smoke over apple with a cider based brine. Can’t wait!

Cheers, guys

Smoked two yesterday. Carved, Vac sealed and froze them to be reheated via sous vide on Thursday. My schedule this year just won’t allow for me to cook them the day of.

Definitely brined. If you can find any of the Sucklebusters Area 51 brine or it is good stuff. My normal bbq shop was out and I procrastinated so ordering wasn’t an option and had to go with something else. Cool bonus to the Sucklebusters is it comes with Brine bags!

Great bird!

I'm smoking 2 breasts tomorrow for Thursday. Then, Saturday I'm frying one for my folks.

Just made my cider brine and I’ll make some sort of butter injection tomorrow.

I’m gettin tweaky here and will probably toss and turn all night while biting myself!

Actually, I’m not that worried about the bird but I need to get the gravy right.

Hope y’all have a great Thanksgiving.

Best to you all!
