Texas Bourbon Pecan Pie

Postby Boots » Sat Jan 11, 2020 3:27 pm

Shelled some natives from the four trees we have on the place before Christmas and finally got around to doing something with them. Included a couple of tablespoons of TX bourbon as well, and put it all in a from-scratch piecrust. Turned out to be one of the better pies I’ve ever made, happy with the results. Very blessed to have good producing trees and the ability to create something from scratch from right here out of our home ground.

A True Texas Tasty for sure  :texas: :salut:
One of the things I miss most from not living in the Hill Country is the Pecan Trees in our Front Yard.
We kept the whole family in Pecans also.
Do you use the Pecan sheller that is similar to side cuters ????? :salut:

FOOTNOTE: a big'ol scoop of Blue Bell would go nicely on it also :texas:

In my younger days mom had one of those crackers that look like a pair of side cutters and was very effective, but I can’t find that now. I bought a Reeds Rocket down to the True Value which if you experiment with it to get experience, does a really nice job of providing whole half pecan meats.
