World's best cake

Postby Norway Joe » Mon Nov 09, 2020 3:12 pm

The cake is actually called the "world's best"

Don't know if there are people here who like to.bake a cake, but if you do: This is recommended.

It consists of several layers of meringue, cake and vanilla cream.

Make batter of the following ingredients:

Mix 150 grams of sugar and 150 grams of butter until white. Then add the following:

4 egg yolks, add one by one
5 tbl spoons of milk
150 grams of flour
2 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of vanilla sugar.

Whisk together and spread a layer in an oven pan.

In another bowl mix the following for the meringue:

Whisk 4 egg whites until stiff. Stir carefully in 200 grams of sugar and mix slowly until mixed.
Add this as another layer on top of the previous. Cook in the oven on 175 Celsius for 20 minutes.

Let cool.

Cut the cake in two halves. Put one half on a tray with meringue side down. Add a thick layer of vanilla cream. Put the other halve of cake on top. This time with meringue side up.

It doesn't look spectacular but it tastes fantastic.

Sounds tasty.
Is the Vanilla Cream something you make or is it sold in stores?
Anything like Vanilla Pudding?

I think it's what you call vanilla custard.

You can make it or buy it ready made. Consistency is like thick whipped cream. Here's a recipe:

6 egg yolks
4.5 dl full fat milk
120 grams of sugar
2 vanilla rods
35 grams cornstarch for thickening

Whisk together egg yolks, sugar and cornstarch.

Split the vanilla rods in two and scrape out the seeds. Put the vanilla rods and seeds in the milk and bring to a boil. Pour the hot milk through a strain to remove the vanilla seeds over the egg mixture.

Being the mixture to a simmer stirring all the time. When thick and smooth remove and pour in a new bowl. Cool the bowl over a cold water bath to cool as quick as possible.

When cold mix in 3 dl of whipped cream and it's ready to go on the cake.

For me, my favorite cake, the most delicious in the world, is Esterhazy. The combination of almonds and chocolate is a win-win combination. My wife learned how to bake this cake after we tasted it in one bakery. Homemade is even tastier because we buy the finest ingredients. This is a delicious and delicate treat for any occasion.

Bake one up and bring it to the Big Buc Bash Allen. We can have it as dessert after the steak contest. :D
