Need Steak Help !

Postby OldUsedParts » Thu May 02, 2019 7:19 am

The Wiffy NEVER buys any of our meats, however, yesterday she came home with this and I have no idea (or desire) of how to cook them. I put a couple each in a ziplock and into the freezer and at sometime I need to get rid of these via Lunch. So I'm asking for any ideas that are worth cooking this thin, dry, blade tenderized whatever.

As Rambo said ^^^ Cubed Steaks are really good when making Chicken Fried Style. To keep it from being ( dry ) just get some ground pork and mix it in with the steak, that's how I make meat-uh-ballzzz...
Another excellent way to cook these is for Breakfast. Salt,Pepper and fry it on a skillet like you would fry Scrapple.
Fry some Eggs over easy and lay it on top of the Cubed Steak. Add some Home Fries and hot sauce and you will be thanking your Wifey for bringing that home.

Another is to make some biscuits and gravy and pour the gravy over it, that works well.

So, get it out of the freezer and try not to dismiss it yet as a boring piece of beef

Something I don't get.

Googled cube steak. This is what I found:

"Cube steak is a cut of beef, usually top round or top sirloin, tenderized and flattened by pounding with a meat tenderizer, or by using an electric tenderizer. The name refers to the shape of the indentations left by that process. This is the most common cut of meat used for the American dish chicken fried steak"

So beef is chicken fried steak?

It's a bit funny though.

This we would call a wienerschnitzel. That is originally veal, but we call it the same if it's made of pork or chicken. It's the style.

Yes, we tend to not make much sense sometimes like Emm said.

Try this one on for size Joe.....

Why do we call a driveway a driveway when we " park " on it but call the Parkway a Parkway when we " drive " on it ???

Its kind of backwards huh lol....

Ur right and it's kind of like when we say were cooking a London Broil.

Its really not technically a cut of meat, but a " style " or " way " of cooking a piece of meat.

Have found many things in life are not logical but happened anyway. Billy Ray Cyrus sold millions of records, but neither science nor logic can explain why, his music would scare the dogs back under the house....

Parts, another idea; beef parmigiana over pasta. Like veal parmigiana. It's Italian, but you still get to fry it...
BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE

Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."
