Za-prise

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:58 pm

With all this pizza in the air, I got the 'bright idea' to bake pizza in a screaming hot Dutch oven, like I used to do with bread....get the empty Dutch oven hot inside your regular oven, open lid, dump bread dough still on parchment into heated Dutch, close lid, return to regular oven.

This did not come out as I hoped —-too puffy—and had to be finished off on a regular pizza pan.

Tasted good, anyway! The rest of the za dough will be used later today in the Dutch oven to make sandwich rolls.

PS: Brain no good, forgot to list toppings. Chicken, pepper, bacon, onion. Shredded chez mix. Parm dust. Drops of seasoned tomato sauce and hunks of cream cheese.

Mee too.

But what about a calzone style? Maybe that would work better in a Dutch oven?

We were thinking of that! But owing to the ultra-puffiness of the dough, we decided to just do rolls.

Thanks.

Seems we got it right this time. Placed empty Dutch oven in preheated 450° oven for a half hour. Prepped za on parchment with a parmesan crust, topped with 3-variety cheese shreds, leftover ham and rotisserie chicken, pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, more parm, Caesar dressing, green onion, black olives.

Placed inside DO, covered, for 20 minutes, uncovered for ten more.

Done.
