Taco Friday

Postby Norway Joe » Fri Mar 19, 2021 1:58 pm

Been a week since last time we had tacos so about time.

Still using the small taco tubs. Less mess.

Bought a ready made pulled pork. Should have smoked some pulled pork but we still have 1 yard depth of snow on the terrace so didn't bother shovel snow.

Regretted immediately that I didn't smoke some.
The pulled pork was way too salty so it almost ruined the taco.

Usual condiments.

It filled me up but that's the most positive.

Wife and kids had ground pork. A much better choice.ImageImageImage

Looks good from here. That salty pork = more beer!

Yes. We usually have taco every Friday. A demand from the youngest kid.

I had a few bags of SB taco seasoning which we loved. Are our of them so much check the rest of the SB inventory before placing an order.

Do you mind sharing the recipe of your spice mix?

Sure, it is something I came up with a adjusted until it tasted good, to us..
TACO Seasoning
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
Mix together all ingredients. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
When you are ready to use; Use your Homemade Taco Seasoning, use about 2 tablespoons per 1 pound of meat. Feel free to add more or use less, I just found that to be the sweet spot :D
Brown your beef and drain off fat. Sprinkle seasoning evenly over meat and add 1/3 cup of water. Simmer until water is adsorbed.
I plan to order and try Gators seasoning on my next order, till then I use this as a work around...
