We've Sinned....But Have A Very Good Excuse :)

Postby The Pocono Ring Shop » Sat Nov 19, 2022 4:23 pm

We have my Mom up for 5 days, then we are bringing her back to Jersey for Thanksgiving at her house. We've decided that this year, we will be doing ALL of the cooking and bringing Thanksgiving dinner down to her house to Celebrate Thanksgiving with her and my brother.
Thanksgiving night we will bring her back for another weeks visit.
It's good for all of us, especially for Gramma & Grandson.:)

Anyways, Since we are Northerners We've always had Beans in our Chili, it's just how Mom used to feed us as kids. I personally like it both ways, with and without.
While she is visiting, she wanted to make her recipe with Deb so while they were in the kitchen, i kept busy building Lego Cranes and Lego Minecraft with my little guy. :)

As for her Chili, they used 8 lbs of Ground Venison, 5 cans of Cannelini Beans ( Rinsed ), 10 cans of Red Kidney Beans with liquid, 2 Bunches of Cellery, 4 Vidalia Onions, 10 Large cans Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes and 5 cans Tomatoe Sauce.
Minced Onion Flakes, Sea Salt, Cracked Peppercorn Pepper, Garlic Salt, Oregano and Parsley Flakes.

It's kind of nice to just sit back and not worry about cooking anything for dinner tonight except my homemade Garlic Toast.ImageImageImageImage

Holy smokes, that’s a lot of chili!

Sounds delicious, and I use beans too!

I always put Beans in my Chili and used to use pinto and kidney but the Wife didn't like the Kidneys in there.
I need to make some more real soon  :chef:

Really ??

I thought that putting beans in Chili down south was just as bad as putting Ketchup on hot dogs up here.?

The ONLY time I use Katsup is when I mix Horseradish Sauce with it for Seafood Dipping. :whiteflag:

pretty much what he said, ketchup, tabasco, horseradish, and lemon juice.... dip those oysters in it.. good stuff

that is a lot of chili... the wife is one of those purists chili is peppers in spanglish... so chili con carne is peppers with meat, direct translation...
I eat most things just the way I grew up when you are hungry the choice doesn't matter much once you aren't hungry choices come into play.

not to berate Dan's chili mix, but I do order my chili powers from Pendry's right there in Dallas, they do support the Terlingua chili cookoff (bunch of drunks from what I hear never been there for the cook off) CASI is the group of cookers from what I see on the net they are a crazy bunch. Their recipe section is overwhelming if you order from pendrys, be careful with the temper temper, that stuff is atomic in nature :salut:

I do a mix of 3 cans of beans, chili, pinto, black, in my batches.
It’s hard to change.

This is actually about 1/2 of what we make when we do this but only had 8 lbs of Venison.
In another few months we'll make the usual batch amount with ground beef.

Yup, my Mom ruined me forever with Ketchup when I was younger with her Meatloaf that was a common dinner.
I only use it for T.H.E.C.S.P.K and Fries.
Other than that, I don't wanna see it.
