Dual fuel generator favorites?

Postby Chasdev » Sun Aug 18, 2019 2:55 pm

I'm thinking about buying a propane powered generator in the 5000 watt range, anybody got advice on which one/s to go after AND avoid?
Plan on using propane 99.99% of the time to avoid gummed up carb jets (although I would use a gasoline stabilizer anyway to keep things perky).

Only because of where I live I've researched these.
Any one that has a Honda Motor is a sure WIN.
Yes, they cost more but once again, you get what you pay for.

Also check out the brands Duromax and Westinghouse.
I think they use Kohler which is good as well but imho not as good as a Honda Motor.

Hope this helps

Love my Honda, quiet and reliable. My brother has a Yamaha and it is a good one as well. Nothing like being next to a 200,000 motor home and they are running a cheap Walmart brand as loud as can be.

Have a buddy that has a propane Onan brand, it came with the food trailer he just bought. Any way it runs extremely hot and is not happy with it. Said he is glad he kept his Honda 7k.

Another vote for Honda. The price up front is hard to swallow but in the end they are worth every penny spent. Make sure you go with the inverter models for quietness.
Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Yamaha or Honda are the best choices, very reliable and can barely hear em running!!

Mu husband owns Westinghouse - dual fuel and inverter, we are totally happy with it!
I'm about to be American, means that I need to know how to grill!
