Finally finished!

Postby Bockbock » Mon Mar 06, 2023 8:38 pm

Went back to the great state of TX that I miss immensely, last week to finish my pit. It was a lot of work, but it turned out great! Did my first cook with it once I drug it back to Tampa. Cooked great. I have to give a shout out to my buddy Bob for helping me, & to Shane who made the pistols & the Armadillo. You guys rock! Going to strip it down to bare metal & patina it at some point. It’s great to be able to cook again!!!! Going to put empty shotgun shells in the handles.

Thanks everyone. It was a lot of sweat equity, but worth every moment. The pit has an insulated firebox with a 24" pipe inside a 30" pipe. Has a warming plate on the firebox for making sauces. It works great as well. Have 2 racks to cook on. Overall, I can't be more pleased. Will make it look kinda fancy, soon. Look forward to many more cooks with it. One thing y'all can't see is that the hinges for the doors have the state of TX in them. Had to bring some of that TX flare to Florida. Have a great weekend, everyone! Happy cooking!
