Thats a nice looking door! What did you use to make the long, straight cuts?

This is where I'm at, now:

Thank you, both. I just wish I would learn to stop tacking temporary stuff on the door, messes up the whole look with all those grind marks on there. I'll get it right next time.
I tried to take some measurements and layout the pipe firebox yesterday, it came out waaaay off. :D
I got it close enough that I could mark the contour with my protractor, though. Gotta go out and work on that next.

My guess is there is a rod inside the tube. The tube is strictly aesthetics and the rod is plug welded to the outer hinge piece.
The ax points are door stops.
I'm thinking the pump jack thingys are tacked to the tube and the door and that swivels on the rod. Neat little design, I might try that next time. Won't need to do the sandwich thing. The door wouldn't be removable, though. I do kind of like that option, even though it'll probably never get used.

Yeah, I had seen that, too. That is a really nice design, great attention to detail. The price reflects it, too. :D

Makes mine look like a mutt.

I'm thinking the smokestack may be overkill, maybe it just looks that way because it's in the foreground. Too late now, have to try it out and see how it does.

All the way to the inside edge of the plenum. But the pipe itself is 8-3/4" ID. The smoker is 171 gallons. The firebox in 24" standard wall, it's currently way long but the pit calculator says it needs to be 30 inches long. The plenum is 9 inches high.

WOW, it should give you as much draft as needed once you add a damper ???
