Unique Smoker Lid Handle Ideas...

Postby MCPMartin » Wed Jun 03, 2020 3:31 pm

I'm looking for some unique handle ideas for a smoker lid door. Obviously a non-heat conduction material would be ideal, but I'm just looking for some unique ideas. I've seen a few things that caught my attention like an axle and a baseball bat.

I believe East Texas Smoker Company out of Tyler uses the axe handles as their calling card. Pretty cool look.

Just remember that anything wood is going to require a lot of care. The sun will eat up pretty much any finish that you put on it.

You could get creative with some Figurines of a Pig, a Cow, a Chicken and maybe a Fish. The choice of what they are made of and the mounting would be up to your creativity and could possibly be real cool and unique. ??????????????????????????????????????

Horseshoes...cut one in half and weld a bit of steel pit to the end to creating a rotating element on a steel pipe.

A trip to First Monday in Canton could open up a treasure trove of potential pit handles. Never thought of that before.

I used some hammers from a pawn shop. Offset is good and the rubber acts as insulators. Plus a little more leverage opening the lid.
