Smokemaster bbq restoration
My son bought a smokemaster barbecue grill and the baffle between the firebox and the oven was not attached and we were wondering if anyone had one of the smokers could take a picture of where it is attached or give any guidance. See attached picture. Thank you

I don’t have a smoke master, I think on most any pit they come down from the top at about a 45 degree angle. There is a guy on here named KAM, he will see this and be able to help you more.

Without seeing a pic from inside the cooking chamber it will be hard to guess but my thoughts are looking at the tab on the right it probably was not a fixed baffle but one that could either be adjusted or removed.

It’s difficult to determine how the baffle was attached, The point sticking out on one side suggests it could have tabs on the end that would pivot, but with the rust deterioration it’s hard to tell. Was hoping to find someone with same model cooker that would send a picture

Re: Smokemaster bbq restoration
With no definable lever action like a Pits by JJ has to adjust I would say it was a fixed damper that had two positions. One would have been open for smoking the other closed when you wanted to utilize the firebox as a grill. Supposedly they came standard with a "Heat management tray". I have attached a couple of photos I found.
Damper in place.
Heat management tray.
Moving forward if it were me I would beef up the firewall and put a fixed deflector plate in. Starting from the top of the opening angling down to where the bottom would be 6" below the cooking grate. Then add some rails for tuning plates.
I hope this helps.
