New Braunfels Smoker Restoration

Postby SteamValve88 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 1:48 pm

I recently picked up this old pit off CL because I wanted a nice heavy duty smoker in my arsenal. I didn't realize how heavy it would actually be. I had to sell my old Char Griller to fund and make room for this little project. It took me a while to find one of these in my area so I'm really excited. :D

All told, it cost me about $150. Plus I definitely owe my brother some good beers for all his help welding. :drunk:

A smokey debut. A brined spatchcocked chicken and two small racks of ribs. A combination of mesquite charcoal and cherry wood chunks imparted a heavenly flavor to the meat and wafted glorious aromatic clouds of smoke into the sky.

I'm thinkin' you should go $25 if they throw in the umbrella for free. I'd guess the paint alone at about $50 for the 2000 degree stuff.
