Classic central Texas trailer offsets? Who and where?

Postby sidpost » Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:33 pm

I'm looking at getting a smallish REVERSE FLOW offset stick burner on a trailer. By smallish, I mean less than a 250-gallon trailer. I'm thinking 24"x60" with a cabinet for beans, cobblers, etc. but, I would be tempted with something possibly ~30"x60" which I guess gets me into the 250-gallon class again.

I'm in east Texas and have plenty of experience with WSM's, actually own a 14.5", 18", 22.5" and, a double 22.5" monster, along with a "small herd" of other options like Kettles, a Kamodo, ...

I know most of the people I looked at about a year ago had moved on to big 1,000-gallon commercial units so, I'm looking for newer builders who have the same "style" as the classics I see around the Austin area with the folded exhausts. I won't wait for a Shirley build FWIW. I like the Mobergs and Mill Scale look nice but the prices are bit much for my wallet and a ~2+ year wait is a non-starter for me. :(

Best Regards,
Sid

Curious why a reverse flow versus a traditional offset?

I would look at East Texas Smoker Co. Their website shows bigger reverse flow, but I am willing to bet they could do something for you. We cook on one at competitions for the big meats and they run well.

Not reverse flow and maybe out of your budget but fits most of your wish list.

Next offset I buy (if the wife ever lets me buy another) will be reverse flow for sure.
Messing around with tuning plates and moving meat from one area to another to prevent overheating bores the heck out of me.

When I was trailer pit shopping I looked at East Texas Smokers. Nice pits and they are in Tyler.
