help me

Postby simitaly » Sun Sep 27, 2020 12:05 pm

hello everyone ... I bought a pit barrel but I have never used one, much less seen how it is used ... I have always been used to using the classic fireplace as it is used here in Italy ... you who are surely more experts can you help me? How to refill the embers for long cooking such as pulled pork when needed? I gladly accept tips and recipes

i hope my english is decent :banghead:

Sim, can you point it out or a similar unit on their website? That will help the members here understand the setup.

For long extended cooks you will want to use what is called the minion method.
Here is a great read on setting up your cooker. Remember not all cookers operate the same so practice and take notes on what works best for you. A pork butt/shoulder is a really good start for practicing long cooks because of the fat content in one.

then I look at the videos you suggested and in the meantime I try to translate them :banghead: :banghead: but is the Minion medote similar to the Snake where the coals light up a little at a time during cooking?

Yes exactly like that. You can place small dry wood chunks about tennis ball size in with your charcoal.
