Just ordered a Lonestar Grillz 24x40 offset along with a fire management basket. Wondered if anyone else has the basket and what the best split size would be for the basket. My thanks.

I do and Chris will tell you the exact size but basically the size of the mini logs. My wood guy sells a 12” (when he has stock - thanks stupid winter storm) that works perfect for me.

Congratulations on the purchase. You’ll love it

You are welcome. Right now I’ve got some pecan that is too fat for the basket. If that happens I don’t sweat it and just pull the basket out. Not quite as fuel efficient but still works fine.

Had a wood splitter somewhere for this very reason but it has been misplaced. Might get one of this kindling crackers to replace it

I get regular splits that come about 16-18 inches long. I cut them in half using a chop saw and then use a mawl (spell) and split them a little bigger than a beer can. Add one or two as needed about every 25 minutes.

That is a beautiful bed of coals and a great roaring fire. What was the temperature of your grill chamber when this photo was taken?

I have the basket, I tried it once without it, probably will not again. It works great, a great item to have for your LSG

I built a variation several years ago for my offset. They are invaluable.
