It may be worth some time and effort if the wall thickness of both the firebox and cook chamber are 1/4” or more.
If it passes the above, maybe take a look at it and bring a tape measure. Plug some dimensions into one of the online pit calculators and see how it calculates out. If the dimensions check out, offer $150. If they don’t, pass.
As K.A.M. said and I can attest as well, steel prices are crazy high right now so if a ton of rework is needed, it probably isn’t worth it. It also depends on if you can do the welding/rework yourself

Just going on memory alone, I believe it was at least a quarter inch thick. The main welding issue I saw was the hole under the smoke stack. He had a piece metal that could possibly be welded to cover the hole.

It definitely had charcoal left in it. I do not know if it has thinned the metal inside significantly.

Besides this is needed new grates, a damper on the chimney, and obviously to have the rust sanded off of it.
