Which Pit Boss to get?

Postby Jansonbbq » Wed Mar 01, 2023 11:27 pm

I cook on an offset or my Weber kettle so don’t know much about pellet grills. I have the pit boss tailgater, and I use it for tailgating and that’s about it lol. But looking to buy my dad a pit boss for his birthday. Tbh, my price range is about $500. In your opinion, What’s the best option for that price range? I was thinking about Austin XL or Laredo 1,000. Or if there’s a smaller one that’s better built, I’d rather that. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks in advance!

I have had a Pit Boss 340 for a couple of years now and I couldn't be more pleased.
The Price was less than $400 at the time and well worth it.
My youngest Son also has one that he's very pleased with.
Good Luck

"OH" it is not a large pit but will handle a couple of rack of Pork Ribs with no problem. If the size works for you then it would probably be a good choice. :salut:

Here's the one I have https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pit-Boss-340 ... /461604042

I'll go measure the dimensions of the grill surface and post them in a little while.

15 1/2 X 23 INCHES

After looking at the wal-mart listing looks like that would be a good one as far as cooking for a small group

I have or had a couple Traeger Texas pits, a Fast Eddy PG 500, a Pit Boss Vertical Copperhead, a Pit Boss 820 in addition to some stick burners.
Well I seem to usually default to the PB 820 it does a good job not to fault any of the others just a preferense thing.
I have looked @ the Austin admiringly but don't need any more space or yard art...

Danson (the father of Pit Boss) seems to be a very good company I have had and used their products through many years and tons of pellets.
