Re: Weber SmokeFire EX6
Unless something else comes up, I think this will be my last update on the grill itself. To recap, Weber has been outstanding in addressing any issues that have arisen. They have sent an insert for the pellet hopper to increase the angle and allow for better feeding and they replaced my auger chute and auger. Unlike some on YouTube, I haven't had any issue with grease fires. True, the ash collection doesn't live up to the 80% they promised, but there is less accumulation than there was on my Camp Chef.
I was still having some issues with the cooker getting up to searing (600) temps, so I spent this weekend messing around with that. I had been using B&B Oak pellets in my camp chef and in the SmokeFire. So, as part of my experiment, I bought some of the Weber branded Hickory (60% oak, 40% hickory) and tried that. Problem completely solved. I initially set the cooker to 450, and it was there in about 10 minutes. I then cranked it up to 600, and it hit it within an additional 5. Ideal amounts of smoke being produced, and the flavor of the pellets is great.
While I wish I could use the B&B product in this one, the pellets are a bit wider than the Weber branded, which I think contributed to the issues.
As I said, as far as I am concerned, the issues with this grill seem to have been corrected, and, as long as you use Weber pellets, it really is a helluva machine.

I would say that, if it has the upgraded parts, yes, I would buy it. Presuming, of course, you have access to the Weber brand of pellets.
The only remaining complaint I have is the app. It's not living up to expectations. Merely useful for monitoring. I can't set the temp or anything on the grill. Hopefully that feature will come later as the software matures.

Re: Weber SmokeFire EX6
Alright, this will officially be the last update on the unit. The grill is still functioning perfectly. This update is on the app. Yesterday, my app updated and added some new features. It can now control the grill temps and shutdown. They also added a feature called "smokeboost" that drops the pit temp below 250 and ups the smoke.
With this update, I feel like its finally what I expected the grill to be.

Re: Weber SmokeFire EX6
One question.
In the user manual (can't believe I read it!) Weber recommends using a water pan if you're cooking for a long time. Do you do that?
