So my old gas grill is on its last legs and I’m toying with the idea of replacing it with a pellet cooker.
One question I have is how many cooks can I expect to get from a bag of pellets? Let’s assume I’m just using it to smoke pork ribs at 250 degrees for about 4 hours each time.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Question on Amount of Pellet Usage
I have never had to add Pellets when Cooking on my Pit Boss 340 - - - the red numbers on the hopper indicate inches and my best ?guess? is it holds around 225 cubic inches (I'm no mathmatician by any stretch of the imagination) Even with a 3-2-1 cook on 2 racks I have never had to add pellets.
Hope the helps and Good Luck with your Pellet Poopin
I have only used B&B Pellets from Academy Sports and have been very happy.
This 20# bag usually runs around $15 to $18 and I usually get 2 to 3 cooks from it.

Re: Question on Amount of Pellet Usage
Four hours of cooking should be about 1/3 bag.

Thanks for the answers, everyone.
This gives me a clearer picture of the amount of pellets I’ll need.

IMHO - there's lots of good woods such as Hickory, Oak and ETC but don't count out Apple when you've got Pork on the Pit.
