CharBroil GrillGates Ultimate Grilling Machine
my nephew just got back from an overseas military assignment
and is setting up house stateside again
he was shopping for a new grill and we told him that regardless of the grill underneath
the GrillGrates were the grills to have
he picked up the Char-Broil "Classic" 4 burner gasser
with his active duty military discount for around $200 at HD
then called GrillGrates and picked up 5 panels x 18½" for the grill

Re: the Ultimate Grilling Machine
after a couple of months I asked my nephew how he likes his new GrillGrates & grill
"Both the Grill and Grates are performing awesome! I have 5 panels and have turned 2 of them over to use as a griddle which I love. I haven't tested the grill with an IR Thermometer yet, but I don't really think I have any hotspots. I can get the grill up to 700+ deg in about 10 min. The food cooks evenly every time and the grill marks are FANTASTIC. Seeing marks like that on the meat makes you feel like a pro! I've done Pork, Beef steaks, and Chicken on the grill side and flat top burgers on the griddle. The texture it gives the burger rivals any high end burger restaurant. It is impossible to burn anything on these things and now I have no fear of pouring a marinade on the meat to get that extra flavor. Even oil based marinades flare up for about 3 seconds and the flame disappears back in the the GGs. The griddle functionality is also really good for shrimp and veggies if you want to get that hibachi style sear. Buying an entry level grill and installing the Grill Grates is the only way to go. I could have spent a ton of money on a Genesis and it would last me 15 years , but I would rather get a new grill every 3 years for $150-200 and slap the GG's on it! Cooking some rosemary chicken (smothered in olive oil) on 'em tonight....no problem!"
