new OldSmokey

Postby CaptJack » Tue May 21, 2019 9:28 am

New 22"OldSmokey
my 7yr old 22OS finally got a little rust through hole in the side, at one of the seams.
Since i live 20'mins from the OldSmokey plant.
and i've been "Jonesing" for a new one this year ;)
i picked up a "factory 2nd" $45
it really just means no box
tall legs. but a $3 discount because i didn't take the short legs.
and $11 for the 2" temp gauge
out the door for $68 with tax
I was there and back to the house in 1 hour
even with the 2~3pm traffic

That's impressive to balance like that on only 2 legs CJ !!

J/k I realize the 3rd is hiding in the back

Every time I see one of your posts I'm getting closer and closer to ordering one of these !
I think between the simplicity of the cooker and your cooks themselves I'm really wanting one. I do have a question tho.... What is the " working " temps for these ? Can it do low smoke temps for long periods of time or is it most happy at grilling temps ?

T.I.A. CJ and congrats on a great score

Hmmmmm - maybe someone helped that little hole along so they could get a new one

Can’t beat that deal - $68 and there and back within an hour. Very nice

Did you know that there is an Old Smokey cook off in Texas City and a throwdown in Galveston - sounds like fun.

I couldn’t live that close to St Arnold’s. That’d be dangerous. My wife would get tired of the “time to come pick me up” calls in a hurry

I am jealous. They make some really good beers as well.
